Divi versus Avada

Two of the most common multipurpose WordPress themes are Divi and Avada. With a license for a single domain, Avada costs $60, while Divi costs $89, but you can use it for unlimited pages. Divi now has a WYSIWYG builder on the frontend, while the Fusion builder of Avada runs on the backend.

Before We Start: Why choosing a Multi-Purpose Theme?

The idea behind a multi-purpose template is self-explanatory, such as Divi and Avada.

Most individuals who wanted a new website purchased a new one for each project they were hired for, or where to set up, before multi-purpose themes were all the rage. The issue is not only that it's more expensive because you're always trying to buy a brand new piece, but you also had to learn how each one worked.

In reality, each of these models work somewhat differently from each other, so you will usually have to spend an extra number of hours figuring out how to get it to work the way you wanted it to.

They set a new standard as to what multipurpose projects could actually contain when Beautiful Themes came out with Divi at the end of 2013. In reality, this new theme was targeted at non-technical web designers and website owners, who were then literally able to create awesome-looking websites in a couple of hours.

It is therefore not a coincidence that when it comes to All in One" WP themes, Divi has set the mark.

It is a modular platform that enables you to create a website that is appropriate for any company, cause, or brand. This kind of product contains all the functionality that your website might need. This helps you to advertise goods and services, create an e-Commerce website or a lovely blog, or create a professional portfolio. It facilitates the incorporation of social media and it is fully sensitive.

Your website looks special because of the intense degree of personalisation.

While you can see several other sites based on the same design, they are all going to be very different. A multi-purpose theme will be the best choice if you need a design that allows you to create a website in the simplest way.

There are some possible drawbacks to multi-purpose products that you need to remember before picking one.

You might not get everything you need in a multi-purpose product if you're incredibly picky about shape, colors, spacing, and other aspects of styling and appearance.

You might need a feature that the template doesn't provide, or you're not going to be able to use that feature at the exact place you're thinking about. You would need a WordPress developer with advanced coding expertise if you want to fix the website for a very specific vision.

A multi-purpose one will not fulfill your standards if you require a tailored and refined website specifically designed for your niche. On the other hand, if you want to get started and keep things open, so you'll keep improving the website on the go, it's a smart thing to do to choose a multi-purpose solution.

These two are on the bright side, the best examples of multi-purpose models that work for the needs of most people. On to the info now!

Divi – Features Overview

You can build any type of website with Divi and enjoy live, responsive previews. With great graphics, it's an exceptional product. Since the powerful page builder meets the needs of every developer, it's also perfect for people who can't code.

Since Elegant Themes gets most of their revenue from this product, they invest in it on an ongoing basis. For its users, what does this mean? They are constantly receiving new updates, which allow them to make changes to their pages.

The new version of Divi - version 3.0 brings editing to the front page in real time. To get a taste of what it is like to use this theme and visual page creator, take a look at the video below.

Another game-changing functionality comes with the new update, Divi 4.0: the theme creator.

With this it is now possible to modify the entire website's design, layout, and structure. It helps you to create custom headers, footers, and body templates for any form of page on your web using the responsive visual page builder.

For different types of posts, such as blog posts, products, portfolios and others you can create custom templates, layouts, and structures.

In addition, along with other special pages, such as 404 pages, search results pages, archives, category feeds, and more you can also do the same with custom index pages. The appearance of every part of your entire website can now literally be personalized.

Sleek, tidy, sleek, and modern is a website constructed with this. This gives the impression of a great deal of effort done in it. Even this is one of the most available themes out there in the library of pre-built templates and the easy page builder. The great thing about it is that, over time, it keeps getting better.

These are the most noteworthy features that you can use:

Divi in Action: A simple & Powerful Drag-and-Drop Builder

The Drag-and-Drop builder is where this theme shines strongly. Creating a custom WordPress site is as easy as it gets with this template.

Creating page with ElegantThemes Drag and Drop pagebuilder

You can only begin working with it once you have uploaded and installed Divi on your site and activated it. You don't have any plugins to install at all (for example, Avada recommends you install specific plugins). It is also recommended that you make any appropriate changes and ensure that you add your username and API key so that you have full access to the features and updates - directly via the admin area.

A minimalistic approach to how this fits into the site has been taken by Elegant Themes. When you edit content, articles, and sites, the constructor is instantly available.

You can need to go to settings to allow Divi Builder to work with them if you have additional custom post forms.

.

divi post integration settings

As of the latest version, the Divi builder functions both on the back-end and the front-end editor. Although some people prefer to work in the front-end, others prefer the back-end - for example, I prefer to work in the back-end even though a front-end interface is available - with the rest of the options in WP, it is more usable for me. I can only use the front-end when I need to tweak the look and feel good.

You will probably know that right now the page builder niche is very competitive, however, truth be told, the Elegant Themes Builder is currently kept as the standard to be aimed at. The fact that it has a clean interface, is still fast and has a fantastic user experience - makes it a perfect mix. While the interface can look basic, the design of the User Experience is clever - it has many useful settings and features that you would not find in any other page builder.

And how are you using it?

Once you have clicked on the "Use Divi Builder" button in your post editor, the builder will appear. You may begin editing at this point by dragging and dropping content modules, columns, rows, and sections around your site as appropriate.

The theme also gives you the option to start by designing your layout from scratch.

That means that you choose the hard way to create a site. It also provides you, however with a comprehensive list of pre-made templates that you can customize to suit your website's needs. We recommend checking out the templates that are already available before you start making your own.

The design, however also gives you a comprehensive list of pre-made templates that you can customize to suit your website's needs. We recommend checking out the templates that are already available before you start making your own.

divi prebuilt layout

There are 141 templates for you to choose from at the moment and more are added over time, so even if you don't have advanced coding skills, you can build your own attractive page.

The layouts cover everything from models for blog posts and pages coming soon to different landing pages and designs for homepages. Right after installing Divi, you can start using multiple models, so this saves you a lot of time.

The templates save you from adding custom code to your website while bringing flexibility and good results.

You can delete or replicate or copy parts at the click of a button while you are editing and either make a mistake or maybe you need to construct a similar layout. For each part, there are particular settings, allowing you a great degree of control and detail about how everything is displayed.

Content modules are seen inside columns in terms of the structure of how a page is built. These columns are located inside rows that contain parts in turn. Of course, you can easily add regular sections, full-width sections, and special sections that feature columns that span several rows, with full versatility.

You can then determine how the different sensitive sizes are shown on them.

page structure insert columns

The Theme Customizer allows you to play with various page elements, such as headers and footers, buttons, typography, widgets, color schemes, etc. The positive thing is that in real-time you get to witness the outcomes of these improvements.

That is something the template of ThemeFusion does not do for you.

divi theme customizer

Now the kicker's here.

You are expected to make mistakes as a web designer, or even more as a non-technical person, which may ruin your design. But the guys who are designing this have already thought about this. There is an undo button, a redo button, and a history button that lets you go back to your previous design if you make a mistake in your layout.

A life-saver, of course, and we've seen this many times-a truly fantastic feature.

Frontend versus Backend editing

In previous versions of Divi, particularly before version 3.18, the front-end editor, also known as "Visual Builder" is easily enabled by enabling the Use Visual Builder" button via the admin region. You can also activate it using the "Enable Visual Builder" toggle button on the front end of your website in the admin bar (you need to be logged in to be able to do this).

Divi's backend editor has not worked since WordPress 5.0 and the new Gutenberg editor, but Elegant Themes allowed major improvements and updates to the back-end editing features when Divi 3.18 was released. More on that later on, though.

The Visual Builder uses an interface that is slightly different to the builder that is used in the backend or admin field. Although it's not particularly difficult to use, moving parts around is a little more fiddly and slightly less convenient, especially if you have a wide and complex website.

You will need to click on the ellipses button (three dots) if you need to see more information, which brings up more choices, such as loading from the library, clearing the current layout, and the required page settings if necessary.

There is also a menu that loads on the bottom left side of the page - as you work on your layout, this is particularly helpful. In reality, the menu allows you to view your page in mobile, tablet, and desktop mode the way it looks, while the zoom out options will show you the whole layout.

In terms of the constructor, the final thing we want to talk about is the alternative called 'Wireframe View.' This view actually hides your template and, as seen in the default builder, loads your layout. This new feature makes it easy to switch seamlessly between wireframe (back-end) and visual editor mode.

Although it was originally a way for users to move between the front-end and back-end builder easily, it has since become the main back-end editor, completely replacing the old one that operates with the classic post editor of WordPress.

Now we're talking about the back-end editor... Let's talk about that in more detail.

The classic Divi back-end editor has now been disabled by default after the release of WordPress 5.0 and Divi 3.18. That is because Gutenberg has become the current default post editor for WordPress. The old Divi back-end editor was designed to work with the older "classic post editor, but now it no longer matches the current scenario. So ElegantThemes published a new update and made it so that the visual page builder mode can now be used by the Gutenberg editor.

In reality, the following screen is now displayed to construct a new page in Gutenberg:

new gutenberg

If you press the Use Divi Builder button, the visual builder automatically starts with options to create a page from scratch, import an existing layout, or clone a page.

Essentially, the latest wireframe view replaces the older back-end editor. It can easily be accessed while you're in visual builder mode with a simple click of a button.

wireframe

Backward Compatibility

Divi has an alternative that allows you to revert to it for those who still find themselves relaxed using the classic WordPress post editor.

You can unlock the Classic editor, which is the original WordPress post editor, by going to Divi > Builder > Advanced.

To allow this, there is no need for you to use an external plugin!

enabling classic wordpress editor

And while it might seem like a simple feature, for those users who are still familiar with the previous user interface and way of operating, it is a perfect way to ensure backward compatibility.

If you allow this feature, you will again be able to have the full Divi Builder back-end experience. This wouldn't have been possible if you were in Gutenberg.

classic editor

The new wireframe view is used with the old back-end experience, but you can still go further back and experience the real classic Divi backend experience.

Going back to Divi > Builder > Advanced, the option "Enable the latest Divi Experience" is open. If you really love the classic Divi backend editor, you'll want to disable this feature.

Beautifully neat! Particularly for those who are happy to act in the ways they are used to.

classic editor classic backend

The above is the same page we saw previously, except this time it uses the classic editor and the classic back-end editor of Divi.

However you're missing some of the newest features this way, but you'll be able to use the newer wireframe mode if you click on the Create On The Front End button. This along with the latest visual page creator, is Divi's modern backend editor.

A great new function comes with version 4.0, the latest iteration of Divi Theme: the Theme Creator.

Divi had some drawbacks in terms of customization back in its earlier iterations. Although it does come with a great customizer and a good page builder, there was still something missing: the ability to construct custom templates for the header, footer, and body.

With the latest edition, practically every aspect of your website can now be personalized. The control of the page builder was taken over by Elegant Themes and expanded to the entire web site.

divi theme builder

Although the possibilities of using custom headers and footers are very evident, for custom body templates, the same can not be said.

These use and use cases for a novice consumer can be a little ambiguous.

Simply put, you can create a custom design with custom body templates that modify the layout, structure and design of your posts, sites, products, feeds for categories, and more.

For starters, a blog post has its title at the beginning, by default. You may make it so that the title appears right after the featured picture or before, whichever you want, by using the new theme creator.

You can also set the font, color and size that the text should appear, add custom elements at the same time and more to all your blog posts!

The beauty is that the different Divi modules can be used in any way you like. Take the Divi module for icons for social sharing, for example.

You can create a custom body template for your blog posts using the theme builder, which has the social networking module, say, below the title.

All your posts have social media icons once you save them, without having to use an external plugin for that!

Plan and use possibilities are now limited only by your imagination.

But what if you want to restrict a social media icon from making those posts? Or what if you don't want to use a custom design for those posts?

The theme builder also allows parts of the website to be included or removed from a prototype.

include exclude

We may tell that, literally, with Divi 4.0, your imagination is the limit.

Where Divi Wins-Features that in other themes are lacking

It is simple for you to build several versions of a website and see which one works better in action with the Leads split testing tool. Split testing is a vital part of the creation of any website, and if you use this prototype, you won't need to pay for an extra service.

The greatest advantage is the real-time aspect. In real-time, you'll see any change you make, simply because the theme offers you a front-end editing option.

In other page builders, such as Visual Composer, you won't find such features (at least not so far).

Another great benefit of this theme is that without extra costs, you can add it to several pages. And how cool is it?

Divi is amazing, no wonder it's one of the best-selling themes of all time for WordPress!

Avada-The Features Summary

Mainly because of its versatility, Avada is attractive. You can use it for almost any form of WordPress account by implementing one of the many pre-built prototype websites in minutes. All you have to do is add content and voila-you will end up with a website that looks good.

The Envato marketplace is extremely competitive, so being the bestselling item there means something: it has to be very fantastic. The template of ThemeFusion also allows you to build just about any kind of website, similar to its rival. You get access to an extensive library of sample websites pre-built, which can be linked to your own site in minutes.

If you do not like demo sites, you can always start from scratch.

Avada

These are the principal characteristics that you can use:

Nice menus: different places, widget mega menu, high customization level, and typography control
Fusion Builder - the built-in drag & drop page builder for the theme
Plethora of choices for theme and page
Core Fusion (a companion plugin that extends the list of tools and options)
Demo importer with one-click
Options for translations
The power over the width of the site

While the approach was minimal with as few intrusions as possible with the previous theme, Avada takes a more powerful approach through your admin menu. It demonstrates itself by showing menu items at the top of the menu for Avada, the Builder, and the Fusion Slider. This implies that it moves the items you're used to further down the list, such as blogs, forums, comments, and plugins, which is not really good if you've been dealing with WP for a long time, and this is just one of the websites you're working with.

What's worse is that the menu can get much more crowded if you install the other plugins suggested. There's something about Avada that we just don't like.

menus pushed down

Fusion is a Drag and Drop Page Builder back-end (no front-end view is available). Use the 'Use Fusion Builder' button to enable your content, whether it's blogs, websites, or other types of posts.

The basic black, white and blue color scheme of Fusion feels a little clinical, in comparison to Divi's vibrant gui. Rather than a designer, it looks like it was designed by a coder.

The builder is smooth, functional, and very easy to navigate on the positive side of things. You'll see options for adding a container (row) or a pre-made layout on a blank screen.

The 11-minute guided tour video is also shown if you're just getting started with the builder. Although the Fusion Builder may not be daunting for most users, we also suggest that you watch the video tutorial because it describes some items you might be familiar with, such as the library system and shows you other settings and features that may leave you somewhat confused.

And because we're cool, we actually found that video and embedded it for you right here.

fusion builder interface

You'll enjoy working with it until you start using Fusion, because it's so fast and quick - having worked with a lot of page builders, my main gripe is that some of them are all so slow. Although the Divi Builder may not be regarded as one of the slow builders, if you load them side-by-side, you'll still feel a difference between the two. Simply put, it is a fast and fun experience working with Fusion.

Elements are easily removed, transferred around, cloned, and configured, as planned.

Notice that rows are known as "Containers" in the Fusion Builder. It is possible to drop elements into columns which are put within containers.

As for all the elements you can infuse in an Avada-based site, below is an overview. As you can see, there’s an extensive choice of elements to add to your site.

Fusion also enables you to see the modifications you have made and allows you to return to those modifications. It is very different from the Divi redo or undo button available - you need to use the alter timeline to revert.

Avada in Action: The Constructor of the Fusion

Due to the licensing, the installation of Avada requires an additional step as compared to the ElegantThemes theme: you'll need to verify your copy of the item before you get access to all plugins and extensions. The theme gives you a choice to use it without such confirmation, but fun features would be lacking.

This design also allows you to create a website from scratch, similarly to its rival. However it also gives you cool, highly versatile website demos (you'll find over 20 of them so if you go for that option, you can still get a unique-looking website. Product pages, photography, travel, design, lifestyle, and more are part of the demonstrations. Any part of the web you can tweak. If you're not a code master, you won't have trouble with this design.

The Fusion Builder is a tool that allows you to create a website from scratch by drag-and-drop. It comes with a great set of pre-built models that can be modified as you wish.

Features that are missing in other templates Where Avada Wins

Remember how the ElegantThemes template gave you a layout library (aka page templates) to apply to your pages and posts before we discussed it? That's wonderful, and Avada also gives you that choice. The template also helps you to import an entire demo website in minutes, however. Where it wins, that is.

Another significant strength of this item is that it's nice to let you take charge of the appearance of a mobile website. In the web edition, you can exclude unique elements from appearing, and you can change mobile breakpoints.

The strong point of this template is aesthetics. Divi also lets you create lovely pages. However, if we had to choose a winner in this aspect, it would be the development of ThemeFusion.

The Ease of Use: How easily do these models build a website?

Ease of use is the greatest benefit of multi-purpose models when it comes to talking about Divi vs. Avada. Based on layouts or page templates, both templates help you create a website. The learning curve is smooth for both of them. Nonetheless, they are not just "skins" and need to get used to.

We're talking about serious tech. You'll need to play around if you want to get the full advantages of all these goods.

Avada has a downside because it needs an extra step: you have to register and get a token number, and before having access to the premium features, you'll have to check it. This may be an operation that takes time, but it won't take hours.

Although ThemeFusion has a robust knowledge base and cool video tutorials that make it very simple to do your job. Whatever role you want to use, you can learn how to do it easily. For casual users, Divi's instructions are more organised and easier to read. For each entry that you want to incorporate, you'll also get hands-on video tutorials.

In this battle, there is no true winner: for both these products, the learning curve is fairly equal. For those without specialized coding skills, they are relatively easy to use.

User testimonials

It's important to see what the real users of Divi and Avada have to say, so you'll base your decision on the experience of other people. Both sites feature user testimonials. A look here:

"Andrew Palmer from SomebodysHero.co.uk is impressed by ElegantThemes: "It is obvious to say that my company is based on Elegant Themes after finding Elegant Themes some 4 years ago and using almost all of the models on my customer pages. I discovered this theme about 7 months ago and used my friend and customer, Pat Sharp, as a test on Divi. Since then I have moved around 40 percent of my customers to it and continue to beat the drum on the subject - its versatility allows me and my developers to build a site in a few days rather than a few weeks and it provides everything a customer might need, ready out of the mobile box and if we need to make changes to the CSS to change the way we can look! ”

On ThemeFusion's blog, there are several reviews, too. "Here is what one of the users says: "You guys have an excellent product and top-notch customer service. Such a wonderful template with incomparable support. Can’t thank you enough for all the help you have given a newb like me getting the web page up. You have actually saved me thousands of dollars.

As for independent reviews, Quora is a nice source of them.

This is what Sanjeev Mishra, a WordPress expert, says about Divi: “This WordPress Theme is by far the best theme from Elegant Themes Club and somewhere I read that the number of sales happened because Divi is more than all other Elegant Themes’ themes combined… Using it you can build a nice layout for your site and add amazingly beautiful elements. No doubt, on the TF marketplace there are better-looking products available or even some better topics on other clubs are available.

In contrast to Divi, here's what Karol Krol, author of WordPress Total, has to say about Avada: "Avada gives you a lot more in terms of customizability." It has a massive panel of options where you can change virtually everything about your website - things such as layout, colors, logos, headers, things' actions, etc. If you want the maximum amount of options and tune-ups available, go with Avada. If you want to use drag-and-drop to build and see it in real-time, go to Divi.

The Looks: With these themes, what you can do

For each of these things, we picked three great websites created, so you can see how they look in reality. From the examples below, you’ll see that both allow you to build professionally-looking websites with tons of flexibility. The production of ThemeFusion may win the contest for beauty, but it's close.

The Price – Avada vs Divi

It costs $60 for an Avada Standard License ($78 if you want extended support for 12 months). Divi comes into two pricing options: $89 per year for Created, and $249 for Lifetime Access. The question is for your money, which one offers the most value?

It will cost you $69 per year for an annual ElegantThemes license. With this on an unlimited number of sites, you get to use it and you get access to all ElegantThemes products and that includes the Divi Builder plugin, which allows you to take control of third-party themes.

The Standard License costs $60 for the ThemeFusion template, and it is a one-time fee. On a single site, you get to use it. You get 6 months of support and lifetime updates with this kit.

For a one-time charge of $2950, an Extended License for the template comes with a It gives you 6 months of support and lifetime updates.

Concerning the price tag, there is no definite winner. The packages are different, so the best value for your needs will be selected. Avada will be the better choice if you need a theme for a single site and you want lifetime updates. If you want to use different places for your orders, then go to Divi.

Analysis of Avada Theme

Although in this article we have highlighted quite a few aspects of this theme, we have also made sure that we write a full, unbiased and thorough Avada analysis here. Really and truly, if you are writing a contrast between two common products, you have to focus on the similarities and the discrepancies rather than the highlights of the same theme.

This is why we have decided to write a specific analysis of the best-selling item from ThemeFusion.

In that post, we focus primarily on the strong points and issues with using this theme. You'll learn about the Page Builder itself and all the other features and advantages that make this theme so popular.

Divi Theme Review

If we did not note that we have also written a highly comprehensive analysis of Divi - after using it for some of our projects - this comparison with these two WordPress industry giants would not be complete. Truth be told, you're probably not going to get fired for choosing any of these templates to use on your website, as we've also said in this article.

We dig deeply into the features of the most common template of ElegantTheme in the full article and review and see what the nice things about it are, and what could be achieved with some changes.

We don't beat a bush, we call a spade a spade, but that's why you're sure right? Since we write the true experience we've had as an actual user of all these themes.

Bottom line: What kind of theme should you pick?

Both templates are quite fancy in terms of aesthetics. When it comes to usability, there’s no simple winner there. As for the price - depending on the needs you have, you choose what gives you the most value. So we're very down to the wire when it comes to contrasting Divi vs. Avada.

So, which multi-purpose WordPress theme is better: Avada or Divi? We will give you the clearest answer: it depends.

If you want to create several pages and want to see the real-time adjustments you make and have the ability to customize the header, footer, and body layout, go to Divi. If you don't care about front-end editing, you want to get more options for customization, and you only need a single site theme, then you're better off with Avada.

Which are you going to choose?
